Founder and Executive Director of Salt & Light Ministries, Dr. Joyce Rosalind Aryee, has charged both senior and junior staff of the Volta River Authority (VRA), to work in unity in achieving common goals in the year 2020.

Dr Arye, who doubles as board member of VRA believes patriotism, professionalism and selfless service to the country is the only option in maintaining VRA's enviable records in the coming year and beyond.

Delivering a sermon at the Authority's annual Festival of Nine Lessons and Carol service on Wednesday, she urged all VRA workers to demonstrate high sense of patriotism, love and live in unity with one another in order to achieve the Authority’s vision.

“You need to strive to be dedicated to the call to serve humanity and exhibit traits of humility and love in all your endeavors,” she said.

Dr Aryee in her sermon urged the staff to eschew acts that would mar working relationship with their colleagues and stay as a team for the success of VRA.

Speaking at the Ridge Church in Accra, madam Joyce Aryee added that plans to execute VRA's major projects was successful this year due to the grace of God, therefore, workers should not bow to pressures of the world and engage in corruptible acts that will dent the hard-won reputation of the Authority.

Rev Aryee prayed for continuous knowledge and blessings on the Authority as members prepare for the Christmas holidays.

On his part, Chief Executive of VRA, Emmanuel Antwi-Darkwa, said the VRA since its establishment in 1961 has discharged its mandate as the market leader in power generation across the region.

However, VRA was plagued with some challenges resulting in weak financial position, low asset utilisation and high operating cost.

As a result, the Authority in 2018 instituted a broad strategy to restructure the company into a resilient, sustainable and growing entity that provided public service with a private sector mindset as well transform into a multi business holding company in the market.

The VRA boss further urged his staff to endeavor and put away all negativities in 2020 to facilitate organizational, personal and national development.

Mr Antwi-Darkwa finally wished all VRA staff a merry Christmas and a prosperous new year.
