The Evergreen Harvest Gospel Choir exploded at the 2014 first Sunday service at the Harvest Chapel International at Tesano, as they sang captivating spiritual songs to celebrate the goodness of God for ushering Ghanaians into the New Year.

Lead by Deacon Yaw Antwi Dadzi and Elder Bethel Donkor, the Choir sang soul-inspiring praises and worship songs, giving the congregation a foretaste of Harvest Praise 2014, which the congregation responded with dancing and clapping, waving of handkerchiefs and clothes.

In a sermon, Reverend Fitzgerald Odonkor, Head Pastor of Harvest Chapel International, tasked Ghanaians, institutions, the church and leadership at all levels, to undertake self-evaluation, reject things that set us back as a nation and individuals, and set in motion modalities for doing things differently.

Preaching on the theme: “Wait on the Lord,” Rev. Odonkor said 2014 has started full of expectations, resolutions and strategies, “but in order to fulfill these ambitions, there is the need to look up to the Lord with anticipation”.

He urged Ghanaians to undertake sincere self-evaluation of inputs in 2013 at church, work place, governmental and national levels; “let us individually critically examine our lives and contributions in 2013, do away with hypocrisy and face 2014 with fresh anointing.

“It will be a disaster to fail to fulfill the mandate of God over our lives in 2014 at whatever position, therefore being conscious of the fact; we must all depend on God to lead us, as decision taking has an aspect of divinity”.

Rev. Odonkor also admonished Ghanaians to be ready to re-position themselves for the task ahead in 2014, do away with negative mentality and attitudes which draw us back as a nation…“stop being irresponsible Christians, workers or citizens, and adopt positive attitudes to the task”.

He, therefore, challenged Ghanaians to seek for new ways of doing things; stressing that “our service must undergo metamorphosis…the question should not be how long you spent at the work place or church, but the impact within the period”.

Most churches were filled to capacity as people wanted to begin the New Year in the presence of God.
