Right Reverend Francis Amenu, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana, has urged Ghanaians to protect the prevailing peace of the country.

“We must not take the peace in the country for granted. We have to protect and appreciate it,” he said.

He said considering what was happening in other areas of the sub-region, Ghanaians could not afford to lose the peace they were enjoying adding; “all of us should work hard towards maintaining it”.

Rev Amenu was speaking at the opening of the Fourth Synod of the West Volta Presbytery of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Koforidua on Friday.

He appealed to Ghanaians to act responsibly and avoid tendencies likely to breach the peace as the nation awaits the outcome of the Supreme Court hearing of the Election 2012 petition.

He urged parties involved in the case, to show civility and allow the court to deal with the matter.

Rev. Joyce Kofi Kodade, Moderator of the West Volta Presbytery, said considering the socio-political atmosphere of the country, there was the need for committed Christians and citizens to be pace-setters in bringing justice, peace and dignity into the nation’s body politic.

He urged the Christian community to be agents of peace and pray for the prosperity of the country at all times.

The three days synod is on the theme: “God of Life, Lead us to Justice, Peace and Dignity for Growth and Development”.
