The 2012 Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has called on the constituency local officers to keep calm during the party’s impending internal elections of officers.
This comes following reports that various local offices are issuing their own guidelines for the elections, which is scheduled to begin Saturday, November 30, 2013 at the polling station level.
Constituency, regional and national executive elections will be held before the national delegates Congress.
Nana Akufo-Addo, who is on a “political break” after the Supreme Court ruling on the Election Petition case, stated on his Facebook wall that, he wants the election to be organized in a “dignified manner”.
“I call on all members of the Party to go through these next few months of elections of Party officers in a most dignified manner,” he said.
He also challenged the rank and file of his party to look towards the 2016 election with greater optimism. According to Nana Akufo-Addo, unity amongst the rank and file of the party will be an essential condition for victory in the 2016 polls.
He cautioned that as the party prepares to elect officers to lead the party into the 2016 elections, they should remember that the contest must be fraternal.
“We must keep it clean and convivial so that we can all get back together, to strategize together, and work together to secure victory together in 2016” he added.
Nana Akufo-Addo also advised that language used in the party must be one of solidarity, adding “the aim is to get effective organisers to drive the party to victory in 2016. We are going to look for competency and not to tear ourselves apart”.
