Let There Be Consistency At NRC, Please

THE double standards of the National Reconciliation Commission (NRC) as exhibited by its Chairman, Mr. Justice Amua Sakyi, will in no way help to achieve the ?reconciliation? the nation is yearning for.

For example, contrast the Commission?s treatment of Chris Asher Jnr. with that of Capt. (rtd) Kojo Tsikata. The Commission virtually pampered Chris Asher Jnr. who broke jail in the 1980?s after being legitimately found guilty and jailed for 10 years by a competent court of law. He was given the opportunity to talk freely and even boastfully.

However, when Captain (rtd) Tsikata appeared before the Commission, come and see Mr. Justice Amua Sakyi baring his teeth at him at the least opportunity and applying the procedural rules of the Commission to the letter.

Such attitudes create disharmony among the populace and send wrong signals to international observers.

The NRC, especially its Chairman, must treat all witnesses equitably and with patience, tolerability and brotherliness in the true spirit of reconciliation.

Who are they deceiving?

After cunningly dangling false paradises for close to twenty years, the saints of probity, accountability, transparency, integrity.. et al., have dusted their pallid apocrypha - a prelude to their election rituals - and are stirring up careless ethnic hatred in some trusting Ghanaians. They are preaching calumnious sermons in copious garrulity against leaders of the ruling party and some social elites.

Although they know very well that they are quoting from spurious mantra, they are spinning the tales continuously with the avowed object of discrediting and destroying such leaders in order to walk over their dead bodies to come back to power and replenish their flaccid bellies.

Let these Rip Van Winkles wake up from their political stupor because these ephemeral POLITRICKS have become insipid and will not arouse enthusiastic receptions anymore.

Castle under siege (part 4 of 5) another scandal at presidency

I have read with much concern the News item with the above heading in your esteemed paper the 6th February 2004 Edition. In part the story indicated that a squad from the office of the President who are involved in the Visa and business deal include Alhaji Moctar Musah Bamba, a man identified as ?Phillip? and the then Bamba?s Special Assistant Aihaji Adam Achanso now Bole District Chief Executive.

As at now Alhaji Bamba is said to have resigned his post as Minister of State, the ?Phillip? man I am told has been arrested by the Police; I am at a loss as to why Alhaji Adam Achanso is still at post as the Bole District Chief Executive. Is it because he is no more in the office of the President?

I would like at this juncture to use your esteemed paper to call on Alhaji Achanso to immediately resign his post as his fellow collaborator Alhaji Bamba has done. He has shown you the way! Why the delay? He should also immediately withdraw his candidature in the Parliamentary Primaries of the NPP of the Bole-Bamboi constituency in order to save the image of the Party in the Bole District.

The citizens of Bole District can no longer tolerate leaders with dubious characters irrespective of their political lineage.

President J.A. Kufuor will be doing the citizens of Bole District good by immediately replacing Alhaji Achanso in line with his policy of zero tolerance for corruption; otherwise how!

The first time a DCE was dismissed in the Bole District was as a result of alleged incompetence and his inability to pay working visits to some of the communities of the district.

It is an open secret that Alhaji Bamba and Achanso were the very persons who visited Bole and worked around the people to write anonymous letters about the then DCE Mr. Sam Akati Mahama.

It is said that those who live in glass houses should not throw stones. Alhaji Bamba and Achanso who live in glass houses have thrown the stone and now the glass has been hit by their stones and the glass is now broken. Alhaji Bamba, Achanso, ?Phillip? and other collaborators by their acts have brought the office of the President into disrepute not only before the eyes of Ghanaians but also the E.U. Intelligence Network. What a Shame!

President J.A Kuffuor should act now by replacing Alhaji Achanso (another In-Sha Allahu) for the people of Bole District are shocked to the bone and have lost confidence in Achanso.

His vicious campaign around the district that the whole scandal is a manipulation of elements of NDC is also another well calculated ploy to throw dust into the eyes of the people. After all those who succeeded in bringing to light the scandal are not even Ghanaians but EU.

Intelligence Network. Why should Achanso think that it is the work of NDC? It is dangerous politicking!

Achanso should also stop the killing and burying of life cows and sheep in order to save himself from the scandal.

These cows and sheep could have been given to the poor in the community for God do not support crime.

Achanso must go, and should go now.
