Liberian Refugee Butchered to Death in Ghana

Reports from the West African state of Ghana say a Liberian refugee, identified as Miller Zurba, has been butchered to death near Budumburam Camp that is hosting hundreds of Liberian refugees in that country.

According to a dispatch from Ghana, the late Miller Zurba left the Budumburam Refugee Camp late Sunday night and boarded a private vehicle for an unknown destination.

Though circumstances surrounding the death of Mr. Zurba are yet to be established, report says following his mysterious disappearance for several hours, his fianc? only identified as Teta, made numerous phone-calls that were later answered by a police officer.

Unconfirmed reports have revealed that the late Miller Zurba who was killed on Sunday night May 5th was to travel to the United States of America on Tuesday, May 7th, 2005 though details about his travel are not known.

According to report, the police officer who answered the phone calls asked Zurbah's fianc?, Tita, to go to Winneba, the administrative capital of the Gomoa District in the Central Region of Ghana.

Upon their arrival in Winneba, Teta and others were informed that Zurbah's dismembered body was found on the highway between Awutu and Winneba.

The dispatch quotes police authority that Zurba was killed in the most barbaric way and his killers are yet still unknown.

Zurba was said to be a resident of Awutu about five minutes drive from the Liberian refugee camp. He was widely known to be a footballer.

Meanwhile, arrangements are being made to bring the body of the late Miller Zurba to his home country, Liberia.
