Maxwell Konadu has admitted that Liberty Professionals were a better side after earning a point in match day seven fixture of the Ghana premier league.

Asante Kotoko had been flying after their win over Hearts of Oak last Sunday, which felt like a defining moment for Maxwell Konadu side to build on it to secure victory over the Dansoman lad’s.

Liberty Professionals however surprised Kotoko with their shape in a well drilled tactical organization in a threatening counter attacks.

The Dansoman lad’s struck first when Mubarak Alhassan released Tamimu Muntari in Kotoko’s box to score the first goal. Kotoko responded well but still could not break down a discipline Liberty side.

William Opoku Mensah took advantage of a miscommunication from Liberty’s defence to put Asante Kotoko on level through Patrick Yeboah’s pass, six minutes before the end of proceedings.

The result puts the reds on fifth with 13 points after match day seven.

Speaking after the game, the Kotoko head coach said his team did what they could to get maximum points in a difficult match but assured fans that his side will regroup and work harder ahead of WAFA match.

“We are not happy we lost points at home. We came in stronger at second half we just couldn’t take the three points. Our aim was to win the match to get the maximum three points to boost our standing on the table.

“It was a difficult match, Liberty came and played very well. Generally I must say it was a good match and I think, in my opinion Liberty played much better. We will work hard again to make sure that we bounce back.”
