Abira (Ash), Oct 21, GNA - An 80-million-cedi library stocked with books and a computer was on Sunday handed over to the Abira community in the Kwabre District.

The construction of the library was funded by Nana Kofi Agyenim-Boateng, a citizen of the town resident in Washington DC. He solicited assistance from workers of Progressive Life Centre Company where he works and Nana Asante Frimpong, MP for Kwabre with the district assembly providing roofing sheets for the project. Speaking at the handing over ceremony, Nana Agyenim-Boateng, called on teachers in the town to design programmes to compel children to use the library by giving them regular homework.

He asked parents to assist their children to study since it is only through their assistance and encouragement that they could grow into useful citizens.

Nana Agyenim-Boateng expressed appreciation to all those who contributed to the completion of the library.

Nana Akuoko Nimpa II, Krontihene of Abira, expressed regret that some people in the community discouraged others from helping the community and commended Nana Agyenim-Boateng for his untiring efforts.
