Lifeless body of canoe operator found in White Volta after 2-day search

The lifeless body of a 41-year-old canoe operator, identified as Razak, who drowned in the White Volta at Daboya, has been retrieved after two days of searching.

According to a report by 3news.com, the deceased was operating a canoe on Monday, October 27, 2025, when he accidentally fell into the river, leaving passengers to their fate.

“The passengers managed to paddle themselves to safety. Later, a search party was deployed by the Canoe Operators Association, and the lifeless body of Razak was found on Tuesday, October 28,” the report stated.

The Canoe Operators Association led the rescue and retrieval effort, which brought the search to an end.

The report further noted that the family has since begun preparations for his burial.
