Denu, July 10, GNA - Lightning on Thursday at around 1430 hours struck the residence of the Ketu-South District Chief Executive destroying parts of the building and some household items.

The thunderbolt affected the electrical wiring system causing a blackout.

Mr Samuel Hiatepe, Caretaker, told the Ghana News Agency on Friday that he was driving some goats to their pen during a drizzle when the thunderbolt struck.

He said he and some other occupants at the time of the incident felt some numbness in their body for a while and that there was no fatality.

Items said to have been damaged include televisions sets, sound systems and video decks.

A palm tree at the back of the residency thought to have been struck by the bolt flickered with flames.

Mr Frank Amarble, District Chief Executive, who was said to be away at the time of the incident, dismissed speculations that it was part of designs by his detractors to get at him and thanked God there were no injuries.

Electricity has meanwhile been restored to the residency.
