The Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) has announced that it has corrected errors in its infographics that it shared to keep the public up to date with the figures regarding the Limited Voter Registration Exercise.
According to the EC, the Greater Accra Region figures were repeated for the Upper East Region, which was not supposed to be the case, admitting that it was a mistake.
The EC pledged that it will come up with methods that will help them to avoid such mistakes in the exercise going forward, and safeguard their credibility in the public domain.
"The Commission has noted the figure for Greater Accra was wrongly repeated for Upper East on the slide on Challenge cases earlier published. All other slides are correct. The Commission has today met with the Team responsible for developing the Infographs and made significant changes.
"In addition, more rigorous methods will be instituted going forward. Please see the corrected slide on the Challenge cases and the rest of the slides," the EC wrote on its official Facebook page.
This comes after the Director of Elections for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Omane Boamah, pointed out that the EC’s graphs for the Greater Accra Region and Upper East were inaccurate and described it as an 'elementary error.'
"The Electoral Commission of Ghana: These elementary errors are unacceptable! From the Bar graph, Upper East and Greater Accra have 981 challenges filed per region. Yet, the graph of Greater Accra is way taller than that of Upper East. More anon!" he wrote on his X page.
In response to this, the EC said it has made the necessary corrections to rectify the infographics figures.
