The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Ocloo, has disclosed that the performance of Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) will now be assessed based on three key areas: sanitation, street lighting, and the enforcement of by-laws.
Speaking at a media engagement on August 28, 2025, she explained that her assessment will be documented in a report submitted to the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, and subsequently forwarded to the Presidency.
"This will be documented in my report to the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, and then forwarded to the Presidency," she said.
Ocloo also appealed to residents of Accra to support government efforts by taking responsibility in their communities.
She urged the public to report faulty streetlights, refrain from indiscriminate refuse dumping, and avoid mounting unauthorised billboards.
The Minister further cautioned individuals engaged in stealing metal parts from public streets and selling them to dealers, warning that offenders will face severe consequences when caught.
"To the public, I call on all residents to report faulty lights for quick action. Take responsibility for sanitation, avoid indiscriminate dumping, and assist security agencies in protecting public infrastructure. And to those who steal metals from our streets and sell them, you are warned to desist from this act," she stressed.
