Accra July 18, GNA - The Accra Golden Lion's Club on Friday carried out free eye test for 250 drivers of the Tema station branch of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) to ensure that they worked with good sight. The exercise was in line with the law that required drivers to undergo eye screening before giving them driving licenses. Mr. Wellington Kofie, President of Accra Golden Lion's Club, in an interview with the GNA said the test would enable the drivers to check for eye defects and to correct them to enhance their work. He said the first five drivers tested were half blind adding that they exposed passengers to danger. Mr. Kofie said the exercise was part of activities organised by Lion's Club to mark Hellen Keller's day throughout the world, which was set aside to attend to the needs of people with eye defect.
