List of the 22 persons contesting as independent presidential candidates

The Electoral Commission (EC) has disclosed that 22 individuals have picked up nomination forms to contest as independent presidential candidates in the 2024 elections.

The Director of Training at the Electoral Commission, Dr. Serebuor Quaicoe, made this revelation during an interview on Ghana Tonight on TV3, on August 22.

The announcement follows the EC's earlier statement on August 1, 2024, which detailed the procedures for submitting nomination forms for both presidential and parliamentary elections.

According to the EC, interested candidates were required to download the forms from its official website from August 2, 2024.

The completed forms are then to be submitted in person between Monday, September 9, and Friday, September 13, 2024.

As of now, 20 of the 22 independent presidential aspirants have been identified through sources close to 3news.

They include a diverse group of individuals ranging from political veterans to new entrants in the political arena.

Below is a list of some of the individuals who have picked up nomination forms to run as independent presidential candidates:

Samuel Apea-Danquah

Alan Kyerematen

Nana Kwame Bediako

Jacob Osei Yeboah

Richard Sumah

Kofi Koranteng

Desmond Abrefa

Dr. Agnes Ayisha

Dr. Nii Amu Darko

Wilberforce Andrews

Nana Stephens

Rev. Samuel Worlanyo

Amenyah TK

Robert Roy Reindof

Paul Perkoh

Seth Ntim Agyarko

Stephen Atubiga

Janet Asana Nabla

Sam Ankrah

The nomination process also requires each presidential candidate to submit their completed forms, which must be signed by the candidate and at least two registered voters from each District Assembly of the country.

The forms must also designate a vice presidential candidate and include four recent passport-sized photographs of the candidate.

In addition to the independent presidential candidates, the EC has also revealed that 69 individuals have picked up nomination forms to contest as independent parliamentary candidates.
