Tema, June 11, GNA - Nii Adjei Kraku II, Tema Mantse, on Saturday advised the general public to desist from changing their television and radio channels during weather forecast announcements.
Nii Kraku stated that listening to the weather forecast would help the public to prepare ahead of an impending rainstorm and other climate issues instead of being caught unaware.
He gave the advice when the Tema Traditional Council presented 200 roofing sheets valued at GH¢3,200 to victims of rainstorm on Wednesday.
The roofing sheets would be distributed to 20 houses located between Awudun and Ashaman in Tema Manhean.
The Tema Mantse noted that it was unfortunate that some members of the general public preferred switching to other channels to watch movies or listen to music instead of paying attention to the weather forecast.
Presenting the roofing sheets, he called on the Tema Metropolitan Assembly and the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) to assist the victims.
Mr Paul Abbey, Vice Chairman of Tema Manhean Clan Houses received the presentation on behalf of the victims and thanked the Council for the gesture.
Mr Abbey advised residents to always use quality roofing sheets and nails that could withstand the sea breeze to avoid a recurrence of the incident.
