Lady Julia Osei Tutu, wife of the Asantehene, has advised school girls to remain focus and work with zeal to achieve greater academic heights.

She said this is the way forward to assure themselves of a better and secured future.

She said they should do everything to resist bad peer pressure influence and avoid regrettable mistakes, which would one day haunt them.

Lady Julia said this when she interacted with students of the St Louis Senior High School (SHS) in Kumasi, as part of a day’s familiarisation visit to the wholly girls’ institution.

She told them to stay away from early sex, which she said could ruin their lives and curtail their academic dreams.

She expressed worry about the rising numbers of teenage girls becoming mothers in the Ashanti Region and asked parents, education authorities, community leaders and other stakeholders to work together to deal with the situation.

Lady Julia said young girls need assistance as they seek to repudiate indecent and provocative dressing, alongside other lifestyles that could create problems for them.

She applauded authorities of the SHS and the students for maintaining high level of discipline - a trademark of Catholic institutions.

Mrs Theresa Addei Commey, the Headmistress, thanked Lady Julia for the visit and appealed for support for the construction of teachers’ bungalows to house more teachers to strengthen supervision during and after school contact hours
