Public Relations Officer of the Greater Accra Regional Police, DSP Afia Tenge, has appealed to Ghanaians to adhere to the partial lockdown directives in the capital.

This she said will help contain the spread of the virus as well as protect the lives of others especially those working in the frontline.

DSP Afia Tenge bemoaned the lack of understanding on the part of a section of the Ghanaian public, adding that the police service had spent time explaining the details of the partial lockdown so Ghanaians comply.

Describing the operation as a humanitarian activity, she said the police would employ professionalism in ensuring compliance.

She asked the public to desist from deceiving public officers in the bid to move out of their homes.

She said only essential workers and those exempted would be allowed to go out.

President Akufo-Addo, few days ago announced a partial lockdown in Accra, Kumasi, Kasoa and Tema.

The lockdown will last for two weeks.

The decision, according to the President is to help curb the spread of COVID-19 which has led to four deaths and infected some 137 people.

President Nana Akufo-Addo made the declaration in a national address delivered on Friday, March 27, 2020.
