Ahwerease-Daamang (E/R), April 25, GNA - The Reverend Kofi Awqadzi, head pastor of the Lone Voice Ministry, on Saturday charged church leaders exhibit humility, discipline and exemplary leadership to their members. Rev Awadzi made the call when he inducted three new pastors and three deacons into the Noah's Temple branch of the Ministry at Daamang, near Nsawam, in the Akuapim South District. Rev Awadzi, in a sermon, admonished the five men and one woman to be steadfast in their service God and mankind, lead modest lifestyles and avoid using their positions in the church to lord it over their flock.

The new pastors were Reverend Nana Yaa Awadzi, Head of Information and Documentation Department of the Ghana News Agency, for the New World Temple in Accra, Reverend Eric Amoh of the Freedom Temple at Akuapim South, and Reverend Richmond Darkoh of Noah's Temple at Daaman. The three deacons were Prosper Wodokpoe, New World Temple, Kofi Appiah and Franklin Dzokoto, both of the Harvest Temple at Soko in Accra.

Rev Awadzi decried the ostentatious lifestyles of some pastors whose pre-occupation was amassing wealth through the collection of millions of cedis in the guise of offering them prayers to make them prosperous. A church leader, he told the news pastors and deacons, must be well behaved, modest and invoke spiritual discipline and confidence in their members and not to use their authority to indulge in fraudulent and dubious deals.

"You have entered a very difficult phase of you Christian life and you must not waver but dedicate your lives to the service of God and fellow members of society," he charged the new leaders of the Ministry. As part of the ceremony, the three pastors washed the feet of a church member to break their pride as pastors and to signify their humility and preparedness to serve their congregations. 25 April 09
