A former chairman of parliament’s Public Accounts Committee has expressed unhappiness over government’s failure to apprehend persons who have stolen from the state coffers as revealed by the Committee over the past few years.
Speaking at a rally at Shiabu, Dansoman, in the Ablekuma West constituency during Nana Akufo-Addo's campaign tour of the Greater Accra Region on Tuesday, 4 October, Mr Albert Kan-Dapaah noted that Ghanaians should not be suffering because the country has been blessed with enough resources. However, he continued, the mismanagement of the economy by the John Mahama administration had resulted in many Ghanaians living with hardship.
“I’ve been the chairman of the Public Accounts Committee before and when I think about how state funds are being embezzled, yet perpetrators are not arrested and left to go free, it beats my imagination. We need change this year. Let’s join hands and together say we are tired of people embezzling our funds. We are not a poor country, so this year vote wisely and vote for Nana Akufo-Addo,” he told the gathering.
The former Afigya-Sekyere legislator also urged the constituents to vote massively for the NPP parliamentary aspirant Ursula Owusu-Ekuful.
According to him, Mrs Owusu-Ekuful is one of the rare breed of vibrant legislators who contribute to discussions on the floor of the house, hence should be retained in parliament to oversee development in the constituency during an Akufo-Addo government in 2017.
