He said when the girl got to the house of the accused, there was a sudden downpour and so she was not able to return to her house immediately and the accused took advantage and defiled her.

Detective Sergeant Kodua said the accused after defiling the girl gave her 2,000 cedis and warned her not to tell anybody about what had happened to her. He said, however, the girl became very sick and when she was questioned by her father, she told him the ordeal she went through and showed him the 2,000 cedis given to her by Ve. The Prosecution said the father, therefore, rushed her to the hospital where it was confirmed that she was defiled and so the matter was reported to the Police, who arrested him.
