Luggage of hajj pilgrims finally in

The long awaited hour for Ghanaians pilgrims has come as their luggage has finally arrived.

The luggage have been sorted out according to regions and kept at Atlas Company ltd, a warehouse situated opposite the Tema Oil Refinery.

The pilgrims have also been categorized into three main zones for easy collection of their goods.

Zone ?A? comprise pilgrims from the three northern region- Northern, Upper West and Upper East. They are expected to collect their goods from May 30 to June 1, 2005.

Zone ?B? is made up of pilgrims from Ashanti, Brong Ahafo and Eastern regions whose collections date from June 2-4, 2005.

Zone ?C? consist of pilgrims from Greater Accra, Volta Central and Western regions, who are to collect their goods from June 6-8, 2005. In all cases collection will start from 9am and end at 5pm.

The Ghana hajj board has announced that excess luggage will attract ? 50,000 per kilo and all commercial goods will be subjected to normal custom checks and clearance.

In the interest of transparency the board has appealed to pilgrims to come along with their passports and photocopies of the pages of their passports showing their photos and personal details.

Mr. Abdul Rahman Nantogmah, Chairman of the Hajj board assured the pilgrims that their goods are in safe hands. He asked them to dismiss allegations that some of the goods are missing.

? Commercial or otherwise all the goods have safely arrived and their legitimate owners will claim them without any hindrance,? he says.

Mr. Nantogmah appealed to the pilgrims to cooperate with the board to make the collection of the goods successful and stress free.

He also advised non-pilgrims who have no role to play in the collection exercise to stay away from the warehouse.
