MASLOC blessed groups in the northern region

27th May, 2014 The Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), has blessed some beneficiary groups in Tamale, the Northern Regional Capital, yesterday, with 35 TV S Taxies, otherwise known as Tricycles to some residents in the region.

The move was to empower the beneficiaries economically, by granting them soft loans and other enterprising ventures that would boost the standard of living of residents in the region and the country at large.

This was made known when a 5 member delegation from MASLOC led by Its CEO Ms. Sedinam Tamaklo, paid a courtesy call on the Northern Regional Minister, Honourable Alhaji Muhamed Muniru- Lemuna, at the Northern Regional Coordinating Council (NRCC).

Hon. Alhaji Muniru Lemuna, who was thankful to the gesture said MASLOC is an entity needed to worked closely with as people in government , in order to improve the lot of citizens in Ghana.

He said as a social democratic government it places premium on the welfare of the people, as such it would do all that it can to improve the living conditions of Ghanaians.

Hon Alhaji Lemuna, emphasised that MASLOC should strive to enter into agric sector particularly, in the Northern Region since it has abounds potentials to turn things around for the people.

He stressed that the women groups in the region have a formidable associations and that all quest should be made to reach out to them adding that the youth component is another laudable venture where they are supported with tricycles.

This according to him would engage the teaming unemployed youth in order not become a liability for the nation.

Hon Alhaji Muniru, further admonished the management of MASLOC to depoliticise its support system since is a national in character.

Meanwhile the cost of one Tricycle is GhC 12,800 and each recipient is expected to deposit an amount of GHC 1, 0500.00 and the rest would be spread for 3 years duration. Presenting the TVS Taxies to the recipients at a brief ceremony, The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MASLOC, Ms, Sedinam Tamaklo, assured the Honourable Regional Minister that his request would be given outmost consideration.

She urged for the loans to be repaid as early as possible , this according to her would be plough back to the less fortunate once in the societies. The Regional Manager of MASLOC, Alhaji Muhamed Amin, indicated that a poultry value chain initiative is been considered in the East Gonja District, and is expected to be implemented in June this Year.

He said as part of the project farmers would be supported with Day old chicks, Poultry feeds, and Tractor Services in order to embark on a commercial farming in the area.

The Regional Manager of the Ghana Roads Safety and Management Commission, Mr. Ayatah Alexander, Bemoaned that in 2012 alone, 99 people were killed in the region and 365 injured whiles in 2013, 167 were killed provisionally and 618 injured and in 2014, between Jan and March in the 1st quarter – 29 lives were lost and 107 injured, a development he said is not healthy to the survival of the nation.

He used the rare opportunity to cautioned residents in the region to abide by the road traffic regulations, thereby curbing most of the avoidable fatalities on our roads.
