Amasaman, Sept. 23, GNA - Nana Bram Okae II, the newly elected Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ga West, on Tuesday said he would double efforts to provide a facelift for the Municipality during his short tenure in office.
"I recognise that I am an injury time substitute player but my intentions are to do a job that should have taken four years to do in four months," Nana Okae said in his first sessional address at Amasaman. Speaking at the Second Ordinary meeting of the Third Session of the Assembly, the MCE outlined strategic measures to increase revenue mobilisation to finance development projects. He said the Assembly would do this by improving its data on revenue sources and provide specialised skills to revenue personnel to enable them to perform better.
Nana Okae II also hinted that the Assembly, despite being split from Ga South, had maintained its projected revenue figures, recording fiver per cent more revenue as compared to figures of last year. "As at July, the Assembly had collected 469,434 Ghana cedis, representing 37 per cent of the projected," he added. Touching on other areas of development, Nana Okae II mentioned that the Assembly had awarded contracts for the rehabilitation of some road networks at a cost three million Ghana cedis. The project includes selected roads at Asofan, John Teye, ACP Pokuase, Tantra Hills, Kwashieman, Sowuotuom, Amasaman to Fise and Medie to Kotoku.
In addition, the MCE said work would also begin for the construction of 110 kilometres stretch of roads from Pokuase to Nsakina, Ayikai Doblo to Asaladza, Medie to Adzen Kotoku, Amamoley to Ablekuma, among others. On education, health and social services, Nana Okae II also announced that the Assembly had through the Common Fund invested over six million Ghana cedis in the sectors. He said the security situation in the area had also improved, and declared war on a gang in the area noted for defrauding developers in the name of the Assembly.
Nana Okae said measures had also been put in place to improve the sanitation, water, agriculture, electrification and HIV/AIDS prevalence rate. The MCE therefore called on residents and members of the Assembly to give him the necessary support to attain the desired progress for Ga West.
