When it comes to Corporate, Social Responsibility (CSR), MCL Ghana is redefining the standard in the construction and real estate sector in Ghana.

GhanaWeb recently had the opportunity to sit down with Mr. Richard Donkor, the CEO of this forward-thinking company, to discuss their latest collaborative CSR project—a modern health centre in New Powmu, Asuogyaman District.

What was discovered was both inspiring and insightful, shedding light on the company’s dedication to community welfare and sustainability.

The health centre in New Powmu is a striking example of how a company can make a significant impact without seeking financial gain.

MCL Ghana took on the role of the main contractor for this project, generously waiving all contractor and consultancy fees.

“Our goal was to contribute to the community in the most meaningful way possible,” Richard shared in an interview with GhanaWeb.

“We wanted to ensure that every penny of the sponsor’s funds went directly into building a top-notch healthcare facility.”

The sponsor covered all material costs and subcontractor fees, allowing MCL Ghana to focus solely on the execution of the project.

This commitment is a testament to their belief in true CSR.

“It’s not just about doing business,” Mr. Donkor emphasized.

“It’s about how we can use our expertise to give back to the community and support crucial initiatives like health infrastructure and education.”

The company’s efforts align closely with key UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

For instance, SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) is directly addressed by the new health centre, which promises to improve healthcare access for local residents.

SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) reflects MCL Ghana’s innovative approach to construction, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) is evident in their willingness to collaborate on projects without charging for professional services.

When asked about their future plans, the Chief Executive Officer was enthusiastic about the potential for more CSR collaborations.

“We’re open to partnering with individuals and organizations who are passionate about making a difference through design - build” he told this portal.

“Our approach is to support these projects without professional fees, helping to drive sustainability and community development.”

This ethos of giving back is embedded in the company’s approach to corporate social responsibility. MCL Ghana’s recent project in New Powmu is just one example of how they are integrating CSR into their operations.

Their approach not only highlights their commitment to social responsibility but also sets a high bar for others in the industry.
