MDCC appeals for calm

Takoradi, Aug. 20, GNA - The Western Regional Diocese of the Musama Disco Christo Church (MDCC) have called for peace within the church and among its members. It said the continual legal battles instituted by the Interim Management Committee (IMC), was not promoting peace and reconciliation as expected. Addressing a press conference in Takoradi, on Tuesday, Elder Nathaniel S. S. Mensah of the church, said though the mandate of the IMC comprising of Reverend James K. Addai, Prophet Suba B. A. Ankomah and Rev. Juba Molda Jehu-Appiah, had expired over five years ago, they have still being parading themselves as the IMC and thwarting all efforts to reconcile the church.

He said the I'Odomey conference, which is the highest decision making body of the MDCC has elected a substantive executive and therefore the mandate of the IMC has ended.

Elder Mensah called on all faithful MDCC members to continually promote peace, live according to the rules and doctrines of the church, obey all court rulings concerning the church, and avoid acts that could tarnish the image of the church.

He said the group and their supporters known as "Apamsee" (Convenant breakers), have arrogated unto themselves powers and have been using the name of the church for their personal agenda. Elder Mensah said about five years ago, the "Apamsee" led by Rev. Addai, leveled several charges against Prophet Miritaiah Jehu- Appiah, the Akaboha the third and head of the church, leading to his dismissal against the laid down internal conflict resolution processes in the church. Elder Mensah said sometime this year, the group attempted to install one Mokna Jeeba Fiifi Jehu-Appiah, a Buddhist, who is also not a member of the MDCC as the Akaboha the fourth, after parading him through some of the churches, without the knowledge of the Queenmother, Akatitibi the second, the spiritual leader of the church, while an appeal by Akaboha the third, was still pending. He said the installation could have resulted in mayhem at the church's headquarters at Gomoa Mozano, but the timely intervention by the Police prevented any incident from occurring. Elder Mensah said the group has been engaging in several illegal activities including the destruction of property belonging to non-supporters and intimidation, and these have been reported to the Gomoa Eshiem Police and the Central Regional Police Command. 20 Aug. 08
