Gomoa Mozano (C/R), Sept 4, GNA -- Leaders of the Musama Disco Christo Church (MDCC), have intensified prayers for God to anoint a new Akaboha to lead the Church.

The Reverend Jonasoma Samuel Jehu-Appiah, Acting General Secretary of the Church, announced this on behalf of the Interim Management Committee (IMC) on Sunday, at the closing of the 10-day celebration of the 93Peace Festival' at Gomoa Mozano.

He said 14 Senior Prophets and Prophetesses had been tasked to fast and pray for God to select a new spiritual head for the Church. Rev Jehu-Appiah stated that the leadership of the MDCC believed that 'the all-knowing God' would surely provide the Church with a new Akaboha at the appropriate time to lead it to 93victory'.

The selection of a new Akaboha followed the affirmation by a Swedru High Court of the removal of the Akaboha III this year after a three-year legal battle with the leaders of the Church. The Acting General Secretary said the fasting and prayers would continue until December, this year before God would anoint an Akaboha, who would be symbol of victory for the MDCC.

He noted that celebration of the festival this year, had united and revived the spirits of the congregation who had became discouraged due to the dispute in the Church.

Rev Jehu-Appiah said they were expecting an Akaboha, who would be prepared to work for the betterment of the Church, saying,=94We want to think in consonance with God, as he prepares to elect a Spiritual leader who would bring discipline as well as spiritual and physical development to the MDCC.

He stated, 'We are expecting God to provide us with an Akaboha who would push or draw the flock of the Church closer to the maker and rebuild the broken wall of the Church'.

Rev Jehu-Appiah expressed concern about what he called =93unbelievable levels of indiscipline within the Church as a result of the recent chaos but I know that God will surely help us to weed out all the trouble we are witnessing and surely we will overcome with the help of God'.

He stated that the MDCC had a lot of laudable plans that had been shelved as a result of the unstable financial and other difficulties. Colonel (RTD) K K Nyame, Chairman of the IMC, expressed regrets about some media reports about this year's Peace Festival and appealed to members of the Church to remain calm and to pray and fast for God's intervention to ensure the development of the MDCC.
