MINISTER'S VISIT

The Minister for Works and Housing, Mr. I.K. Adjei-Mensah, has inspected some broken down water systems in Monkra in he Kete-Krachi district. The hand pumps system were constructed by the former Volta Regional Development Project (VORADEP) . The Minister's visit was the result of the increased cases of guinea worm in the area. Mr. Adjei Mensah said his Ministry will assist communities with pedal solar-system to generate elecricity to pump water into the communities. The Co-ordinator for the Volta Regional Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Programme, Mr. Edem Asimah, said feasibility studies have been completed to repair the 18 bore holes in the districts. He said the projects will cost 6 million cedis. The paramount chief of Kete-Krachi traditional area Nana Kwamina Obridjo, appealed to the government to help eradicate the guinea worm disease. gri
