Nerebehi (Ash), Nov.8, GNA- A 52 year- old Traditional Ruler, has been adjudged the overall Best Farmer for Atwima District, during this year's National Farmers Day celebration at Nerebehi. For his prize, Nana Owusu Adu Achiaw 11, the Chief of Kagyase near Santasi, took home a bicycle, a full piece of cloth, Wellington boots, a double bed and a cutlass.
The remaining nine award winners, received cutlasses, Wellington boots, wall clocks and pieces of cloths.
Mr Charles Yeboah, the District Chief Executive observed that said the ruling New Patriotic Party had increased the price of cocoa three times and paid bonuses to the farmers.
He said the country had also exported more than 750 metric tonnes of cocoa for the 2003/ 2004 farming season. Mr Yeboah commended the Government for reclaiming Tenewwohoye and Apenimadi degraded forests.
