Accra, 25, GNA - The Minister of Health, Major Courage Quashigah (rtd) on Friday said the Ministry of Health (MOH) had chalked successes in the reduction of HIV/AIDS prevalence, improved coverage of immunization of children and the implementation of the National Health Insurance Scheme.
"Also guinea worm infection in the country had been limited to levels below 4000".
Speaking during the signing of an aid Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the (MOH) and its donor partners at the end of a health summit, Major Quashigah said the Memorandum of Understanding represented the discussions, conclusions and agreements arrived at during the summit and the business meetings between the MOH, its development partners and other stakeholders.
He said during the summit, it was discovered that maternal deaths was a major problem to the health sector and to solve it, a ministerial task force would be established to take care of the situation.
The MOH and its development partners had agreed to scale up the Regenerative Health and Nutrition Programme and also work to fill the huge financing gap in the health sector.
Mr. Michiel Bierkens, Deputy Head of Missions, Dutch Embassy who spoke on behalf of the donor agencies expressed his gratitude to the Ministry and other development partners for helping to improve upon the health status of Ghanaians.
