MOH signs renew collaboration with its partners

Accra, Dec. 17, GNA - The Ministry of Health (MOH) on Friday signed an Aide Memoir, working agreement, with its partners at the end of a four-day Health Summit held in Accra.

Madam Salimata Abdul Salem, Acting Chief Director, MOH said the Ministry was grateful for the open and constructive criticisms as well as inputs made by its partners on certain policies and programmes, adding that the Ministry had taken them all in its strife. She mentioned some of the suggestions made by its partners as the provision of appropriate training for health workers and their distribution into the various health institutions.

Madam Salem said the discussions made during the summit had resulted in decisions to scale up child survival interventions to reduce child mortality.

She assured them of governments commitment towards ensuring quality health care for all and urged their partners to stick to their part of the agreement.

Mr Jan Van Horst, First Secretary, Health and Gender Development Advisor of the Royal Netherlands Embassy, said with good management, Ghana could achieve the goals set for its health programmes. He mentioned areas such as the expansion of information systems and improved human resources as priority areas that needed to be tackled to enhance health in the country.

He urged the MOH to expedite action on improving the health provision, by translating their plans and programmes into action. Copies of the documents were signed and handed over to representatives of the UNFPA, DIFID, the European Union, World Bank, the Royal Danish Embassy and the MOH. 17 Dec 04.
