MP Awards 20 Scholarships to Needy Students

THE THE MEMBER of Parliament (MP) for Nkawkaw, Hon. Kwabena Okerchire Adusah, has awarded scholarships to 20 brilliant but needy JSS students in his constituency.

In all, each student will receive ?200,000 every year for a three-year period.

Launching the scheme, the MP said the money was from his personal resources and it should cover items like government approved fees, PTA fees, examination fees, uniform and stationery.

He observed that education is the bedrock of every country and it is expected to help parents to educate the children who are our future leaders.

According to him, he used a larger part of his MP's Common Fund in the rehabilitation of school infrastructure and supplied dual desks to many schools in his constituency in a bid to enhance education in the area.

He promised to extend the scholarship scheme to cover more students.

To this end, he has formed a four-member committee to be in-charge of the scheme.

They are Messrs Gibson Anim, Appiah Ansong, Daniel Kwasi Asante and Amoako Mensah.

The MP commended the committee for the good work in selecting the children and expressed the hope that they would monitor the beneficiary students to enable the scheme achieve its objective.

A member of the committee and headteacher of Opinaman L/A JSS, Nkawkaw, Mr.

Gibson Anim, praised the MP for the scholarship and his assistance to schools in the constituency and asked him to continue his good work.

He assured the MP that he and his colleagues would do their best to ensure the success of the scheme.

He further called on others to emulate the shining example of the MP to enhance education in the area.

The function was attended by teachers, parents and JSS students.
