MP for Mfantseman East tours constituency

Ekumfi Attakwaa (C/R), Jan 17, GNA - The Member of Parliament (MP) for Mfantseman East, Mr George Kuntu Blankson, has toured his constituency to interact with the people to know their problems. The tour, which took him to 30 communities, was also to explain some bills passed by Parliament.

The MP donated sets of jerseys and footballs he bought from his share of the District Assemblies Common Fund to the communities to promote the game in the constituency.

At Ekumfi Attakwaa he donated a set of jersey and a football each to both the men and women's football teams.

Mr Blankson expressed happiness about the formation of the women's team and gave the assurance that he would support the team to make it a formidable side.

"The days when football was regarded as a preserve for men was gone", he stated and added that "today both men and women are using the game to achieve fame and wealth".

The MP urged the women to take their training seriously to enable them to win laurels for themselves, the community and the country. He urged parents not to discourage their children from playing football and said those who were not academically inclined should be encouraged to play football.

Mr Kuntu Blankson presented three computers and a printer to the Ekumfi Ahmadiyya Secondary School, a fan to Essarkyhir Police Station and Polytanks to some communities to store waster.

Mr Mohammed Esarko, assemblyman for Ekrowful-Otabanadze Electoral Area who accompanied the MP on the tour briefed the people on some programmes of the Assembly and the celebration of Ghana's Golden Jubilee Independence anniversary.

He appealed to the communities to keep their environments clean since the anniversary would attract more tourists into the country.
