Ho, Dec. 11, GNA - Captain George Nfodjo (Rtd), Member of Parliament (MP) for Ho Central Constituency on Saturday led nine communities in the Ho Municipality to clean up their environments.
The clean-up exercise which saw people of all ages from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and other parties doing one form of clean-up or another, benefited communities such as Toviadzi, Anlorkordzi, Vanakpoe, Holuviepe and Muviepe. The rest are Bake-Gblepe, Sava, Kpoanyigba and Kpoe. Captain Nfodjo said the exercise, which was the beginning of a series of clean-ups before the Christmas festivities was to complement the efforts of the Municipal Assembly in ensuring good sanitation. He said while it was the business of someone to build roads, market and schools it was important that others also saw to the cleanliness of such places.
Captain Nfodjo underscored the importance of cleanliness and said even when he was the District Chief Executive; sanitation was his priority adding that he himself was involved in the arresting of stray sheep and goats. He therefore called on others who were 'sitting on the fence' to get involved in cleaning up their surroundings and not only their rooms for the Christmas Season. Captain Nfordjo said as MP for the constituency, he would continue to help clean up the environment as an exemple for others to follow and would also identify their needs and satisfy them. " I am on a meager MP fund thus cannot do much but will help clean up our environment", he said. Captain Nfodjo however, expressed the hope that with additional funds and commitment of the people, much could be done to develop the constituency.
