MP organizes free vacation classes for students

Madam Hannah Tetteh, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Member of Parliament for Awutu-Senya, has visited two traditional areas within the constituency to acquaint herself with a four-week holiday classes she organized for 2,500 students at the cost of 85,000 Ghana Cedis.

A total of 150 teachers were also engaged to teach all the core subjects.

The students who participated in the classes were given teaching and learning materials, which included text books, pens, pencils, graph books and mathematical sets.

Madam Tetteh who was accompanied by Mr. Sampson Armah, the District Chief Executive, visited Senya where one of the classes was been held, and told newsmen that the visit was also to boost the morale of the students in order for them to take advantage of the classes to study harder to help them improve upon their academic performances.

She advised and encouraged the students to study hard, reminding them that there was no limit to what they could achieve once they set their minds to it.

The Foreign Minister pointed out that the world was now a global village, and advised the students to seek knowledge on consistent basis, in order to able to compete with the best in society.

“You must read a lot, since a well-read student is a world class student, be one other’s keeper and respect the elderly, and admonished them that what they had leant within the period will go along way help them to improve their educational standard,” she added.

The Minister thanked the teachers for their voluntary spirit, and warned the pupils to refrain from indiscriminately littering their surroundings.

Neenyi Kwa Bentum, Senya Bereku Tufuhen, said they were most grateful to the Minister and MP for the area for organizing the classes that kept their wards and children in school during the holidays.

Neenyi Bentum hoped such classes would be organized during vacation, to help the children to concentrate on their studies, in order to pass their examinations with good grades.
