MP presents 10,000 books to children

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Afram Plains North, Mr Aboagye Didieye has distributed 10,000 exercise books worth GH¢20,000 to a number of public and private basic and second cycle school children in the Kwahu Afram Plains North District.

He had also distributed solar lamps worth thousands of Ghana cedis to a number of families in the remote communities where there are no electricity to enable the children use it to study in the night and also perform their evening assignments.

Mr. Didieye disclosed this to the GNA Media Auditing and Tracking of Development Project team in the district in an interaction at Donkorkrom.

He said the items were purchased from the MP’s share of the District Assembly’s Common Fund.

He said he had also sponsored two Information, Communication, Technology(ICT} workshops for 244 children who registered for the Basic Education Certificate Examination(BECE) examination, while he has also provided an outboard motor to the District Health Directorate for its outreach programme on the Dwarf Island and other remote areas to provide quality health care to the people.

He said he also spent GH¢6,800 to rehabilitate the six kilometer Mem-chemfre junction to Agagdakope road which was in a deplorable condition to enable farmers send their produce to the marketing centers.

Mr Didieye said he had offered a number of scholarships to the tune of GH¢25,000 to enable young people from the area further their education at some tertiary education level including the university of Ghana, Ghana School of Law, Colleges of Education and some Nursing Training Institutions.

The beneficiaries are to acquire the requisite knowledge and come back and serve their communities, he said.
