MP presents items to alma mater

Jachie (Ash), Oct. 26, GNA - Mr Simon Osei-Mensah, Member of Parliament (MP) for Bosomtwe in the Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma District of Ashanti, has stated that education was the best cure for poverty. He explained that education could give a person a better life, who would in turn; help eradicate poverty from his family and community. Making this assertion when he presented a mower and some iron rods to the Jachie-Pramso Secondary School at the weekend, he asked the students to take their studies seriously to become useful citizens to their families and communities.

Mr Osei-Mensah, an old student of the school, asked the students to be proud of their school, since it had chalked a lot of successes and continues to do so.

He promised to use part of his share of the common fund to assist in the completion of the girls' dormitory to ease the accommodation problem facing the girls.

Nana Minta Afari Bowak, Headmaster of the school, expressed his gratefulness to the MP for his kind gesture. While thanking the government for the provision of some amenities for the school, he said a lot more was needed to be done, and therefore, appealed to the government for more assistance.

Mrs Evelyn Apachie, an Assistant Director of Education at the District Education Directorate, advised the students to refrain from social vices that would put their future careers into jeopardy. The MP also donated a mower to the District Directorate of Education and mechanical tools to the Tetrefu Integrated Community Centre for Employable Skills (ICCES), estimated at three million cedis.
