The Member of Parliament for Okaikwei Central, Patrick Yaw Boamah, has provided the youth in his constituency, interested in fish farming, with 10 tarpaulin fish ponds and 10,000 catfish fingerlings.

The MP, who announced this in a post shared on X on Friday, May 10, 2024, said that his action forms part of his "unemployment alleviation" scheme, which is aimed at getting decent jobs for the youth of Okaikwei Central.

Addressing the gathering after the presentation of the items, the MP said that the initiative would help the youth from all the electoral areas in his constituency.

He said that the scheme would enable the youth of his constituency to start earning some income within four months when the fish are expected to be harvested.

The MP, who is also the board chairman of the Ghana Water Company Limited and the vice-chairperson of the finance committee of parliament, said that his main focus as a politician is to help better the lives of his constituents.

"I will be doing more to help the youth going forward, but this is a starting point. Some people come to deceive the youth, but that kind of politics is over.

"I want to help people make it in life; that is the kind of politics I do in Okaikwei Central. I want to ensure that the youth have hope. I want to help those who want to learn a craft, those who need help in some way," he said in Twi.
