MP says Ghana needs divine intervention

Member of Parliament (MP) for Atwima-Nwabiagya South, Mr Anthony Osei-Boakye, says divine intervention is needed to pull the nation’s economy from the brink.

He has, therefore, called on Christians to unceasingly pray to God to change things and give the people some reprieve.

Growing agitation and street protests by workers and other social groups, he said, was indicative of how bad the economy had sunk and the untold suffering of majority of the population.

Mr Osei-Boakye, who was speaking at the inauguration and induction service held for the Nkawie-Toase Calvary Methodist Men’s Fellowship at Nkawie, said the government would have to do more than it was doing to fix the difficulties.

He commended the church for the tremendous contribution it was making to the development of the area and said this must be sustained.

The MP advised the leadership of the fellowship to be selfless, transparent and accountable.

Mr Edward Nketia-Asante, Kumasi Diocesan Chairman of the Fellowship, urged them to be guided by the vision of the church and work to promote its growth.

The Very Reverend Samuel Asante Nnuro, Superintendent Minister of the Circuit, said they should focus efforts on evangelization to win converts.

Separately, newly elected officers of the Brofoyedru Men’s Fellowship have been inducted by the Right Rev Nuh Ben Abubekr, past Bishop of the Kumasi Methodist Diocese, with a call to them to work together with other organizations within the church to deliver on the vision and mission of Methodism.

He said they should mirror sublime qualities of self-discipline, humility, selflessness and hard work.

Mr Nketia-Asante urged the Fellowship to support the church to bring progress to the people through its recently launched entrepreneurship development programme.
