MP shows concern

Fri, 24 Apr 1998 Source: --

Mankessim (Central Region), 23 April, The member of parliament for Mfantseman west, Mr. Jacob Arthur and the Abontsindomhene of Abeadze traditional area, Nana Nketsia Afful, have appealed to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to provide a separate transformer for Baifikrom watershed and exempt it from the power rationing exercise. They said the pumping machines at the watershed cannot function effectively because of the power rationing exercise and this has created an acute water shortage in the area, including Mankessim and Saltpond. They said provision of a separate transformer for the watershed will be in fulfilment of a promise by the ECG that the power rationing exercise will not affect essential services like water. As at now, they said, people are using any type of water they could lay hands on. They appealed to the Ghana Water and Sewerage Company (GWSC) and organisations which own water tankers to go to the aid of the people. GRi.
