A motion has been moved in parliament to approve the nomination of Deputy Local Government Minister-designate John Oti Bless, less than two months to the elections.

Ghana heads to the polls on December 7 to elect a president and legislators to govern the country for the next four years.

The nomination of Mr Bless generated heated debate in parliament, prompting the house to defer the motion to enable the leaders of the house confer among themselves.

Parliament had put on hold the approval of MR Bless’ nomination in August this year following revelations, after his vetting by the Appointments Committee, that the Nkwanta North MP had made disparaging comments about the Chief Justice on Accra-based Montie FM.

A group had petitioned parliament against approving Mr Bless' nomination after the abusive audiotape became public.

Speaker of Parliament Edward Doe Adjaho told the house on Thursday August 5 that further consultation needed to be had on Mr Bless' nomination.

Mr Bless later apologised for the comments against the Chief Justice.
