Accra, March 27, GNA - Employees of MTN Ghana, providers of mobile telephony, on Saturday embarked on a 14-kilometer walk to sensitize subscribers to support the company's campaign to raise funds to support t= he people of Haiti after that country was hit by a massive earthquake. The project dubbed: "MTNers for Haiti Campaign Walk", was initiated by workers of MTN. It was also to encourage employees to keep fit. Speaking at a media briefing in Accra, Mrs Gloria Adjei, acting Huma= n Resource Manger of the company explained that besides subscribers, employ= ees and other interested persons and organisations were also expected to contribute to support the people of Haiti. "The fundraising campaign in support of Haiti, which has begun in Ghana, will be widespread in all the 21 operating units of MTN", she note= d. Mrs Adjei said the funds would be lodged at Fidelity Bank with an account number 1070000021053.
She noted that subscribers could make their contributions by sending=
short messages to short-code number 1966, which will attract GH¢1.25p. Mrs Adjei added that other donors and philanthropists, who wished to=
donate, could do so by transferring their funds through the MTN Mobile Mo= ney account number 0246300324. Haiti's earthquake was said to be in magnitude 7.0 near the densely populated Haitian capital, Port-au-Prince.
