MTN-Ghana, the leading telecommunication network in the country on Friday commissioned an ultra-modern Information Communication and Technology (ICT) Centre for Aggrey Memmorial A.M.E Zion School in Cape Coast.
The GH¢ 254, 000.00 facility with 30 sitting capacity, comes with an office, store room, cabinets, ceiling fans, projector and other networking gadgets to enhance teaching and learning.
Mr Ethan Liu, Head of MTN Ghana Account and Huawei Technologies Ghana, said the gesture was in fulfilment of the organization's drive to support efforts to bridge the digital divide between the served and underserved schools to encourage the study of ICT in schools across the country.
He said it was their prime vision to enrich people's lives through communication for positive lasting impact on the entire population.
It was also in adherence to their Corporate Social Responsibility target of contributing to the development of the socio-economic, health and safety of their operating environment.
He said they were poised to facilitate more ICT solutions in the educational sector in Ghana through the provision of a comprehensive network infrastructure in the educational sector especially in an era where distance education had become increasingly important.
He called on the school authorities to protect the equipment and the facility to serve it's useful purpose.
Reverend Dr Franklin Koranteng Boadu, Headmaster of the School, thanked MTN Ghana Foundation and partners for supporting the 2,500 students of the school with the modern facility to enhance academic work.
He also commended the Old Students Association for engineering the initiative.
