MUSLIM FAMILY LIFE LAUNCHED IN ACCRA

A book titled "The Muslim Family Life " was launched in Accra on Sunday. The 92-page book authored by Mr. Adam Mahama, an Islamic scholar, is a compilation of religious discussions, rulings and opinions by contemporary Muslim lawyers and academicians.

It tends to explain in simplified terms the family in the true context of the Holy Koran and traditions of Prophet Mohammed, female circumcision, divorcee, family planning and women's right. The book also seeks to highlight the family as a focal points in the Islamic society with emphasis on marriage.

Alhaji Bashiru Sakibu, Chief Executive of the Ghana Highways Authority and Alhaji Mohammed Odaymant, Managing Director of Rana motors Company Limited jointly launched the book. Alhaji Sakibu in a short address urged Muslims to practice Islamic teachings in the various Muslims communities particularly issues a such as marriage, the Muslim family life, which the book sought to divorce which the book sought to address

He expressed concern about many broken homes and other family related problems in the Muslims community in the country. Alhaji Salibu hoped the rich collection and wealth of knowledge in the book would go a long way to about family life and make it an enviable institution.

Hajia Katumi Mahama, president of the Federation of Muslim Women speaking on ", how to preserve the Muslim family', reminded Muslim men to recognize the in wives as playing a complimentary role in their bid to ensure a proper and good family . She urged Muslim men to ensure that their wives rights were recognised so as to dispel the notion held by many non-Muslims that Islamic women were being depressed and relegated to the background by the men. Hajia Mahama appealed to Muslims parents to protect their children and make useful citizens by giving them proper education and upbringing.
