MUSLIM MISSION FALLS ISLAMIC MISSION

A long tussle between the Islamic Mission and the Ghana Muslim Mission ended on May 31, in the favour of the latter in Kumasi.

The suit originally commenced at the Kumasi City Court on January 13, 1989. It was later transferred to another District Court Grade II and landed in the Circuit Court for determination.

In his judgement, Mr. Justice K.K. Acquaye said from the available records the Islamic Mission (Plaintiffs) had no legal capacity in the matter.

Accordingly, judgement was given in favour of the Ghana Muslim Mission for a declaration that title in the disputed property was vested in them.

The Court also awarded c400,000 general damages against the Islamic Mission for trespass and wrongful interference with the defendants' right and interest in the property.
