A brawl has broken out at the residence of the late Dr Nii Armah Josiah-Aryeh, former General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), over his estate.
According to his nephew, also known as Nii Armah Josiah-Aryeh, a woman called Akushia Cudjoe, on Friday, 24 February allegedly stormed Dr Josiah-Aryeh’s house at Baatsona with some thugs and inflicted machete wounds on some family members of the deceased who had tried preventing her from taking over the house.
Speaking to Kwadwo Asare Baffour Acheampong (KABA) on Ekosii Sen on Asempa FM on Friday, Mr Josiah-Aryeh said Ms Cudjoe was an “imposter who has set out to cause problems and that is what she has succeeded in doing”.
According to him, the struggle over the late lawyer’s house began after his death, with Ms Cudjoe claiming to be his widow. “She has resorted to violence to forcibly take over the house although the dispute over the property is still before court,” he said.
Mr Josiah-Aryeh added that the family does not recognise Ms Cudjoe as the late Dr Josiah-Aryeh’s wife.
The matter has been reported to the Community 18 police.
Meanwhile, the family of Dr Josiah-Aryeh is yet to fix a date for his funeral and burial.
Dr Josiah-Aryeh died after a protracted illness in December 2016.
