About ¢300,000.00 worth of diesel belonging to Adu-Ofori-Attah company limited in Tema has been washed down the drains along the Techiman-Kintampo Highway when a fuel tanker overturned in the Bono East Region.
The diesel tanker with registration number GN 6243-15 was traveling from Tema to Buipe and had just passed Tuobodom when the accident occurred.
According to the Adu-Ofori-Attah Company Limited driver, Daniel Oppong, he was en route from his base in Tema transporting diesel to Buipe in the Savannah region.
GBC’s Dauda Zulkiful reports that the driver, while moving uphill after leaving Tuobodom, the turning table of the tanker broke, detaching it from the cap.
“The bulk tanker then capsized and burst open, spilling all the 54,000 litres of fuel onto the road and into the drains along it.”
“This attracted the locals who arrived in no time with all kinds of containers to collect some of the fuel valued at about ¢300,000.00. Some drivers were also seen getting out of their cars to get some of the fuel.”
Teams from the Police MTTD and the Ghana National Fire Service were also called to the scene.
