Member of Parliament for Madina Constituency Francis-Xavier Kojo Sosu has criticized the New Patriotic Party (NPP), accusing them of abandoning principles and consistency.

In an interview with Happy 98.9fm following Parliament’s indefinite adjournment, Mr. Sosu asserted that the NPP government is evading truth and accountability. He cited a similar incident in 2020 where the right course was taken, questioning why the NPP now seeks to avoid the same path.

“The NPP’s inconsistency is appalling, their ‘It is Possible’ slogan rings hollow when they fail to uphold principles. If it was possible in 2020, why not in 2024?” he rhetorically asked.

Mr. Sosu emphasized that if the Speaker had endorsed the NDC’s majority status without adjourning Parliament, they would have abolished several contentious policies, specifically the E-Levy a tax on electronic transactions, the Betting Tax, and Legislative Instrument (LI) 2623, which permits mining in water bodies and forests, significantly contributing to galamsey (illegal mining).

He congratulated the National Democratic Congress (NDC) MPs on securing majority status and pledged unwavering dedication to winning the December polls. He expressed confidence that an NDC majority would propel Ghana’s development.
