Kumasi, July 18, GNA - Mr Joe Donkor, a Deputy Minister of Education, Youth and Sports, has said the media landscape in the country ''now appears too fluid with publications that could pollute the serene enquiring minds of children.'' ''A visit to the newsstand all over the country brings into sharp focus the thorny issues of immorality that are really worrisome and need to be corrected.'' These were contained in a speech read on behalf of Mr Donkor at the launch of two children's magazines at Kumasi.

The two quarterly magazines, "Child's Eye" and "Infant Eye", published by 'Life Forms' in Accra dealt with issues on current affairs. Mr Donkor called on individuals, organisations and the government to ensure that reading materials did not affect the morality of children. ''The ministry will continue to throw its weight behind ventures like these publications to ensure the development of children in the country.''

Mr Kofi Nyamekye, Ashanti Regional Sales Manager of Life Forms, said the publishers decided to come out with the magazines when they realised magazines do not target basic schools despite the fact that the media landscape boasted of over 100 publications a week.
