PRESS STATEMENT BY NANA ADDO FOR PRESIDENT 2012(NAFOP)

President Mahama Must Choose His Words Carefully When Countering Nana Addo’s Policy.

We the members of Nana Addo for president 2012(NAFOP) wish to humbly call on President Mahama to choose his words carefully when addressing electorate across the country.

We have noticed with keen interest, words such as, deceiving and stealing, anytime he gets the opportunity to address the electorate and lately during the IEA encounter. He makes such statements when he tries to counter the free SHS policy and the free access to health for children under eighteen years.

President Mahama has consistently told Ghanaians that Nana Addo stole the free SHS policy from our constitution. Therefore it could not be his idea. For us, we could use stronger words than what he is using, when most of our policies has been copied and pasted in their manifesto.

Nana Akufo-Addo has been responsible enough, during the cause of his campaign, selling his message to the ordinary Ghanaian to vote for him. We expect President Mahama to do same. It is a fact that the NDC cannot explain to Ghanaians what they would do, after spending huge sums of money to launch their so-called manifesto. Therefore, they have resorted to attacking Nana Addo unnecessary throughout their campaign.

We would like to ask President Mahama and the NDC the following questions;

1. Since when did the NDC realized that the free SHS policy is in Article 25 of our Constitution?

2. If the free SHS policy is in the Constitution and they recognize that it must be fulfilled, why did they ask Nana Addo to bring the cost and why have they not implemented it, since they have built 1700 schools across the country?

3. If the free SHS is in the constitution, why did President Mahama call Nana Addo a “thief”, when Nana Addo promised to implement it as soon as he assumes office in January, 2013, since the constitution does not belong to one person?

4. Did President Mahama and his Government deceive Ghanaians when they promised one term premium, which hitherto has failed in the eyes all Ghanaians?

5. If a law has been passed to ensure that children under eighteen must enjoy free health care, why is it not the case now?

6. Is President Mahama deceiving Ghanaians when he told the electorate that, if he is voted into Power he would ensure that the load shedding would be over?

7. Is President Mahama deceiving Ghanaians when he promised to build 20,000 houses for teachers, and 200 Senior Secondary Schools, when Nana Addo has already promised a mortgage for teachers to build their own houses, and build 350 Senior High Schools?

8. Is President Mahama deceiving Ghanaians when he promised to build an International Airport without providing any cost?

We challenge President Mahama to publish the 1700 Schools under trees they claim to have eliminated across the country, and tell us how many are left. We think that we must be responsible enough as politicians to engage in a political discourse that would enable the electorate make a fair decision during voting.

It is crystal clear that President Mahama and the NDC have lost the battle. They have failed to trumpet their own manifesto. Therefore one could easily tell the frustration on the face of President Mahama when addressing the electorate.

By this statement, we are calling on Ghanaians to vote for Nana Akufo-Addo, who is prepared enough to take Ghana to the next level. Thank you.
