Minister of Defence and MP for Bimbila Constituency, Dominic Nitiwul has accused the erstwhile Mahama Administration of selling over 300 acres of land belonging to the Ghana Armed Forces amongst the rank and file of his government.
And that investigations ongoing reveal clearly how the Mahama-led NDC Government had engaged in unpleasant deals concerning lands vested in the Ministry of Defence for the Armed Forces and the Veterans Administration.
According to the Minister, the dubious dealings were perpetrated in connivance with some unscrupulous officials of the Lands Commission.
Speaking at Thursday’s the Meet the Press staged at the Information Ministry, Dominic Nitiwul mentioned that the land from Burma Camp to the new overpass down to flower pot on the Teshie Link is the boundary between the Armed Forces and the civilian.
Surprisingly, the land there has been sold amongst top politicians – and it is within that stretch of land the former President is also residing.
“And I think it is a shame that we did that…..and I think that if I have my way I would have gone after those people but we are in a democracy, he angrily remarked.”
The selling of such lands per his investigation was done within the spate of two years. Explaining further, he pointed that the Attorney General Department by then wrote to the hierarchy of the Ghana Armed forces to give back the lands to their owners if they could not buy.
However, unknowingly, the government had diabolic plan of selling the lands to its party members as well as officials of the government.
